What should I do?
by Tameria2001 inhello everyone, it's been quite a while since i was last on this forum.
originally i was under a different user name, but lost all that information when i moved to a different state.
anyways, i had left the jws back in 2001, after being raised up in it most of my childhood life.

RSVP that you are coming but that you'll be staying as long as you like. It was rude of the inviting party to extend a conditional invitation.

So, two JW men knock on our door tonight at about 8pm
by JWdaughter inall they did was invite us to a convention on the other side of town in mid-july.
my husband tried to engage them and asked where he could send them some information.
they showed him the address for the convention center across town-yeah, they are going to get it there.

You're right, it is stupid. My mother would have thought so...when she did it, they actually knew their stuff.

Judge sanctions WTS - $4k per day penalty for not producing sex abuse documents
by Simon injudge sanctions jehovah's witnesses.
imposes $4000-a-day penalty for not producing documents in sex-abuse case.
by dorian hargrove, june 24, 2016. a san diego superior court judge has ordered the church of jehovah's witnesses, also known as the watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, to pay $4000 a day for every day that it fails to produce documents requested in a civil lawsuit brought by former parishioner, osbaldo padron, who claims a church elder sexually abused him when he was seven years old.. in a june 23 ruling, expected to be made final today, judge richard strauss admonished the church for willfully ignoring a court order to produce all documents associated with a 1997 body of elders letter that church leaders sent to parishes around the world in a quest to learn about sexual abuse of children by church leaders.. over the course of the past year, the watchtower society and its lawyers have fought hard to keep the letter confidential, claiming that turning over the documents would infringe on the privacy of those mentioned in the letter that were not associated with the case.. in march 2015, the church turned over a heavily redacted version of the letter.

Vidiot, I wonder about this a lot. Of course your points make sense...it looks like they've dug themselves a deeper hole than they'll be able to get out of. They would have been much smarter to just clean house and get rid of all the pedophiles...but I suppose they think it's too late for that...

The 1975 Generation---are they still around?
by minimus ini was raised as a jw and 1975 expectations were pretty intense.
as i recall, most people did not leave after the failed expectations but many s l o w e d down.
now, i think most of the 1975 witnesses are gone or barely in.. is the older generation still around in the kingdom halls or are they much gone?.

My 80 year old aunt is still in. This is how 'in' she is: Her husband died of complications from coexisting diagnoses a few years ago...she insisted on an autopsy so she'll be able to explain to him his exact cause of death when she sees him again in the new system.......

Keep this in your pocket: Go to revealnews.org and search for Jehovah's witness abuse. Trey Bundy is a secular investigative reporter, not an apostate. Look at the articles about the court cases. If you have children/grandchildren, maybe some of the court records will be of interest to him at some point.

Yikes. He'll be needing to think about what he said. It sounds...dissonant. I think some older dubs may be hedging their bets, staying in just in case. I think my mother may have been...she was in for over 50 years and saw all the changes. The latest ones must have had her questioning privately and saying to herself that this wasn't the organization she had committed her life to. It's almost a relief to me that she doesn't have to deal with this anymore.

How do you deal with depression?
by BlackWolf ini'm currently going through a bout of depression and my eating disorder has gotten worse.
ever since my parents actually told me that they are going to kick me out when i turn 18 i've felt kind of hopeless about my life.
my parents won't take me to the doctor because the psychiatrists won't have my "best interests" aka jw crap in mind, because really that's the root of all my problems.. i'm wondering if any of you guys have any advice with dealing with depression?

And don't rule out meds...it's often just a matter of finding the right one for you. Just please stay away from drugs and alcohol. They are tempting but will just get in your way.

Your parents are still required by law to see that you get help. It may not have to be meds. It may be therapy, whether they like it or not. There may be testing that needs to be done. Not getting you the help you need is called neglect. Forcing you to go to meetings is called abuse. Your parents are not doing the right thing by you.
My advice to you? Make art, make art, and make more art. You can hide words in it that nobody will know about but you. And get outdoors if you can, even if it has to be early or late in the day. Cultivating gratitude is also helpful. Be grateful for the person you are, and for everything you do have. You will never have to get baptized...you will never have to be a dub, no matter what they're trying to do. You are a creative...one of those people who simply must be true to yourself. I'm sorry your parents don't understand that. I get the feeling that you will never be a follower, and that's a very good thing. Prepare yourself in to live without your parents, even if you have to rent a room. Find out what things cost and make a plan. It may take you the year to get your ducks in a row.
I am a creative too. You can pm me anytime.
